Fume Extraction System Installation

Ducting Express were contacted by a connections provider to quote for a fume extraction system within an electrical training facility. The customer required a solution to remove the fumes created when joining high voltage 3 phase electrical cables and ensure that they are following COSHH 2002 regulations.

The Fume Extraction System Solution we provided

Following a visit to the customers site, our fume extraction engineer proposed a system that comprises of four flexible fume extraction arms mounted back to back on a bespoke floor mounting bracket. By using the back to back floor mounting bracket, we were able to reduce the space required within the training facility and also support the main fume extraction ducting.

The fume extraction arms are connected into a single high-level duct with an inline single-phase contra rotating extraction fan that discharges the fumes externally at high level. By having four separate arms installed, the customer is able to extract fumes from multiple operative’s breathing area at once.
