Down Draft Extraction Bench

The customer contacted Ducting Express to provide a solution which could remove very fine dust from electrical components enabling them to be cleaned prior to carrying out repairs.

Working closely with customer, our experienced dust and fume extraction engineer proposed the installation of a work station with rear and downward extraction, known as a down draft bench.

The dust extractor to be installed had the dimensions of width 1300mm depth 1000mm height 1700mm with a 800mm working height to suit any space restrictions and for the ease of work. The side walls were hinged so that they could open outward to allow for larger items to be placed on the dust extraction bench.

Once the customer had approved the proposed dust and fume extractor bench our team of skilled installation engineers carried out the installation over a two-day period.

Dust Extraction Bench

An inline filter box with disposable pleated filter media was fitted in the extraction duct work to filter out the fine dust particles before being extracted through an external wall to high level. To prolong the life of the disposable filters the down draft bench has a dust collection tray at the base of the extraction table which will collect the heavier particles. LEV monitor gauges were installed as a visual aid to indicate when the filters will need replacing.

Due to a small amount of solvent cleaning product being used a 3 phase ATEX extraction fan was mounted adjacent to the work bench, from the fan outlet steel galvanised duct work was installed, this passed through the external wall and rose to high level terminating with a weather cowl. To reduce the output noise from the extraction fan 4 inline silencers were installed.

On completion we carried out a full LEV inspection of the system and issued reports for the customers health & safety records.
