Slotted Channel & Fixings

Also known as a strut channel, the slotted channel is a metal bracket that is used to support ducting. The slotted channel framing has a holed metal base, which allows it to be attached to any surface - concrete, walls, ceilings, floors and even steel work. This is done with strut-specific bolts and other fasteners, such as Z-shaped or U-shaped fittings. The slotted channel is made of 12-14 gauge galvanized sheet metal or with other finishes such as paint, powder coat or epoxy. Other variants include:

  • Stainless steel slotted channels - used in cases where rusting ought to be avoided - in outdoor settings, in construction sites with a corrosive environment, etc.
  • Fiberglass slotted channels - used in very corrosive environments.
  • Aluminium alloy - in cases where the weight of the object attached is of concern.

    The current industry standard of the slotted channels is MFMA-4

Slotted Channels are sold in two types: Heavy & light (2.5mm & 1.5mm). They are sold in standard 3 metre lengths.

The main advantage of the slotted metal channel is that it allows for a quick and easy connection between elements. Since it comes in various lengths and sizes, they can be used in a variety of situations. Moreover, installations require only moderately trained labour, which is why this is one of the cost-effective solutions on the market. Slotted channels are highly versatile and their installation can be modified fairly easily.

Wide variety of beam clamps

Girder clamps or beam clamps are widely used at construction sites, industrial buildings and warehouses where electrical wires and pipe work are attached to beams or grinders via the beam clamps. These elements are used to clamp for support purposes, connecting different components without the need to drill or weld. The steel beam clamp is used as a temporary or permanent connection, as a way to create joints between beams and more. We provide a range of bolted beam clamps which you can find below.

Most steel beam clamps are designed to attach to specific components such as:

  • roofing or flooring panels;
  • secondary beams;
  • locating plates;
  • threaded rod, conduit or pipes.

Beam clamps are most commonly made from stainless steel, iron and steel with varying finishes to improve the durability of the element.
