How to Connect Spiral Ducting Video Tutorial

Here at Ducting Express we often get asked how to join spiral duct work together. We have created a tutorial video to explain the items you may need and how those items fit together.

As Andy demonstrates, putting spiral ducting together is easy. The spiral duct has female (large) ends, and any fittings have male (small) ends. By fittings, we mean any bends, t-pieces, concentric reducers etc. Pretty much anything that isn’t a length of ducting.

When connecting a duct fitting to a length of spiral the male end will simply fit inside of the female end without the need for a coupler.

If you need to join two parts with the same end, you’ll need to use a connection piece. A male connector to join two female ends, or a female connector to join two male ends.

Here is the full video transcript:

“Hi there, Andy from Ducting Express here. Today we are going to show you how to
connect spiral ducting.
Here we have some sections of spiral ducting, some male and some female connectors, a 90 degree bend and a branch piece.
You can purchase all of these from our website ducting-express.co.uk.
Fitting lengths of spiral together couldn’t be any easier. All you need is: your ducting, a male coupler, a drill, some tek screws and some silicone.

  • First off, get some silicone and insert a bead of silicone inside the spiral.

  • Secondly, the male coupler fits inside the spiral.

  • Thirdly, insert tek screws into opposite sides of the ducting ensuring that you go through the duct and the collar.

  • Next, insert a bead of silicone into your spare bit of duct, attach and repeat tek screws.

  • All fittings have male ends which will insert directly into the spiral.
  • When putting together two fittings you will need a female collar which goes over the fitting and over the second fitting.

Thanks for taking the time to watch this video today, if you require any parts you’ve seen in this video go straight to www.ducting-express.co.uk”

To fasten the ducting we recommend to use tek screws and duct sealant. Duct tape can also be used. Please note in our example using 200mm diameter spiral ducts we used four tek screws, however, for larger sized ducts you will require more.
